Assam witnesses heavy rainfall

Heavy and widespread rains have battered the state of Assam and other parts of northeast India. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Assam. Dibrugarh town is currently grappling with urban floods, as most streets have been waterlogged due to the intense rainfall. Mancotta Road, one of the busiest stretches in the Upper Assam town, is now submerged in knee-deep water. Located on the banks of the Brahmaputra, Dibrugarh has been dealing with persistent issues of flash flooding and waterlogging. This year, the state has already recorded 31 fatalities due to floods, landslides, and storms.
